porch host faqs

you're a fabulous porch host. here's what else you need to know.porch host, hudsonqc, tim walsh, acoutic guitar, live music, open mic, porchfest

when: saturday, sept. 9, 2023 (rain date sept. 10)

porchfest performance time: 12-6+ pm (time differs per porch - check sched)

what time should I arrive to set up? arrive at 11 am (or 1 hr before your porch's start time) to set up your porch.

after party: TBD

contact: hudson porchfest on fb, via email or hudsonporchfest.ca

your porch details:  we will send you the information you need about your porch asap.

what else is expected of me?

  • maintain porch schedule.
  • do sound for bands.
  • donation reminders.
  • troubleshoot gear/call runners.

what about takedown? it's hip to stick around and wrap wires neatly.

what time can we/i play? you tell us - you're the host. many of our hosts like to be the last gig on the bill.

how long do i play? porch hosts often play their own porch, but not always. If you're a player-host then you pick your slot. Play 45m or 90m - please let us know in advance.

can i invite my artist pals to play on the porch i'm hosting? we encourage it. please let us know when you all want to play.

when are the bands expected to soundcheck between sets? there are about 5-10 minutes before each scheduled performance time to tweak the sound.

what else should i bring for my own gig?

  • instruments, mics, stands, cables. we provide mixer and powered speakers.
  • refillable water bottle/drinks.
  • sunscreen and a hat.
  • hand disinfectant.

where can i eat? you will find a number of great restaurant options on main street. ask the porch owners for a recommendation!

will i be able to use the porch owner's bathroom? maybe, it's their call. you will know ahead of time and there will be somewhere else for you to go.

is this a paid gig? no. everyone involved donates their precious time and talent. each porch has a donation box. this money is collected to cover the low costs of the fest and the remainder (the majority collected) is given to a specific charity(s). all artists will be listed in our main facebook event, in your specific porch event as well as on our lineup webpage. if you have given us a link, this link will also be on our webpage.

where can i see who else is playing? facebook.com/hudsonporchfest and hudsonporchfest.ca/lineup-2022. for all general updates about porchfest, please like our page.

please help us promote your porch!  share the main facebook event and invite your friends on facebook, send out the details via email or other social networks. if your band has a facebook page that you have shared with us, we’ll add you as a co-host for your porch’s event. if your band doesn't have a facebook page, please add one of the porchfest organisers as a friend on facebook so we can add you as a co-host to the event. then, please like, share and invite away!
